Lieutenant Colonel Schneider‘s previous assignments include various staff positions in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) and the Air Force, with notable leadership roles as the Commander of the Flying Group (Battalion Level) of Tactical Air Wing 51 "Immelmann," Wing Commander of the COUNTER DAESH Operations Wing, and temporarily as the Squadron Commander of the Operations Squadron.
His operational experience includes deployments in various roles, such as twice with SFOR in Piacenza, Italy; three times with ISAF in Mazar-e Sharif and Kabul, Afghanistan; and twice with OIR, in Incirlik, Turkey, where he flew operational missions over Iraq and Syria, and in Al Udeid, Qatar.
After completing his high school diploma, he began his jet pilot training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He completed his flight training on the TORNADO at Fighter Bomber Wing 38 "Friesland" in Jever and at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. His home unit was the 2nd Squadron of Fighter Bomber Wing 34 "Allgäu" in Memmingen, and after its dissolution, the 1st Squadron of Reconnaissance Wing 51 "Immelmann" in Schleswig. He completed the Joint General Staff/Admiral Staff Course of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.
As a pilot, Schneider has accumulated over 1,900 flight hours on the T-37, T-38, and TORNADO aircraft.
